Retro and Jungle Taggies

Following on from the ‘making things in miniature’ theme, these are a few of the wee taggies I made last week.  I had a hoot making them, not only because I love the designs on the panels, but also because it was such fun choosing the different types of tags so there were different colours, lengths and textures.

I love the wee red ribbon that looks like a tape measure, and was quite taken with the blue checked elasticated ribbon too – so much fun to pull and fiddle with 🙂

I keep a couple of taggies button-free so they are suitable for little babies who might suck and chew on them, and added fun buttons onto others aimed at slightly older children who want more to touch and explore and who are less likely to try to eat them!

Which is your favourite?

The taggies are NZ$10 plus $1 p&p and are available for sale on my facebook page.

Giraffe Tastic and Elephant Euphoria

I’ve been busy making my new wee range of snugglies this week, and what fun it is creating snuggly things.  The only difficulty is trying to persuade my almost-three year old that they are not all for him.

Here are some of the cutesies made so far, a few of  which have already gone to a new home.

off she went with a trumpety trump...

There are also spiders and a socktopus… all as snuggly and cute as a button.  I can’t wait to see what I come up with nest, tee-hee.

Hope they gave you a wee smile,

the daftest competition I’ve ever had

I love to have a wee mooandflo competition over on Facebook every now and then, and I try to pick ideas that will be fun and silly and give everyone a giggle along the way.  My favourite until today was one to name the elephant backpack I’d made (the winner, Hugh Hefferlump, totally cracks me up even now).

But today I randomly threw a wee comp out there on the spur of the moment and it simply  said this…

You have the time it takes me to photograph and upload my latest creation to guess what it is. If you guess, it’s yours. If you’re near, there’ll be a consolation prize. Clue – it’s a brand new item that I’ve not sold before at all… GO!

I wasn’t sure whether any of my followers were online, let alone interested in such frippery, but lo and behold, within 2 minutes we had 5 entries, and by 15 minutes we had 30!  And such fun ideas, too – some are even things I have in the pipeline, but not actually the right answer for this particular creation.

Some of the entries that cracked me up were:

  • an apple cosy
  • a Luke Skywalker costume
  • a tea bag purse
  • oven mits
  • a tea cosy

but best of all…

  • a too-hard basket – bahahahahhahaha

Superb!  I’m not sure I know how to make a too-hard basket but I sure manage to put a lot into mine 😉

Luckily for the people entering, my camera’s memory card seemed to have about a billion pictures on it, so it took quite a while to download, and by 25 minutes we had 30 fun entries, two of which were in the ball park with ‘a cuddly’ or ‘a toy’ …

Those two were invited to elaborate, to see if either would get closer, and they came up with “A snuggly blanket type thing like the ones with the heads” and “a rabbit”.

The thing I had made was actually this…

So Rosemary won with her entry of ‘a rabbit’ as, being a creature, it was the nearest entry.

Oh what fun!  It was lovely to announce a winner, and I had to give 2nd prize to Sydney who had suggested the snuggly, as she was also the person who suggested ‘the too hard basket’ which is still making me giggle.

Fun times at mooandflo.
