Retro and Jungle Taggies

Following on from the ‘making things in miniature’ theme, these are a few of the wee taggies I made last week. ¬†I had a hoot making them, not only because I love the designs on the panels, but also because it was such fun choosing the different types of tags so there were different colours, lengths and textures.

I love the wee red ribbon that looks like a tape measure, and was quite taken with the blue checked elasticated ribbon too – so much fun to pull and fiddle with ūüôā

I keep a couple of taggies button-free so they are suitable for little babies who might suck and chew on them, and added fun buttons onto others aimed at slightly older children who want more to touch and explore and who are less likely to try to eat them!

Which is your favourite?

The taggies are NZ$10 plus $1 p&p and are available for sale on my facebook page.

Bibs, Dribblers and Babies

I have to tell you, there are times when I am sat in my own wee world in the work room, cutting, designing, stitching and photographing stuff, that I begin to wonder whether my marbles really have finally gone off on a wee jaunt to Fiji and left me behind in la-la land. ¬† Or maybe I’m just getting clucky again, heaven forbid! ¬† But all I want to do at the moment is make things in miniature.

Given I flit from project to project, with the attention span of a demented moth, it’s always a relief when something sells – for both me and the long-suffering Mister Flo who¬†tolerates¬†my mad cap doings and only sometimes moans about the number of pins he finds on the carpet.

Anyhoo, this week I’ve gone¬†berserk¬†making bibs and taggy toys, and I’m pleased to say they are going down mighty well so far. ¬† here are some of the bibs… the rest are on Facebook here

Mental Mut Wear and Dapper Dog Duds

Oh I can’t help myself but be drawn to these ridiculous costumes for dogs.

Let’s be clear – I don’t own a dog; ¬†I have never owned a dog; ¬†I’m not even keen on dogs; ¬†but dog clothes, well now, there I go all of a dither and just can’t help wanting a dog just so I can dress it up.

It’s not right.

It’s an illness, I’m sure. ¬†And I think the only sensible cure might be to get another cat…

But meanwhile, to help me in my road to recovery, here are some of my favourite silly dog costumes:

For the dapper dog about town, this shirt and bow tie combo is an absolute must.

or for the more urban, street dog we can go jeans and hoodie …

and we mustn’t forget the hippie carrot-munching love and peace dog – he needs cool clothes too.

For the working dog: this is for the undercover dog on secret operations at the local zoo

and if your dog is looking at a career in time travel, then this is a must!

Weiner dog? Hot dog? Taco Dog? ¬†Undercover ops at the local kebab house? ¬†Who knows, but it’s fabulous!

Oh, they horrify me and bring me joy all at once.  Whatever next!

Cute Colourful Dresses

It’s been another good sewing week, and my favourite pieces are these bright and colourful frocks I’ve made.

It’s a no-brainer that I’d fall in love with the giraffe frock, since I have a rather sizeable giraffe obsession, but even accounting for that, you have to admit this fabric is just divine. ¬†I’d like to thank my gorgeous friend Alice for gifting it to me – she is just the best.

Happy Giraffes Dress

The rangoli dress is made from a panel I found in a sale and just couldn’t resist. ¬†I just adore it, not least of all because of the sassy strip down the back. ¬†Wouldn’t that bring a bit of oomph to the cold winter months?

If you want to one of these dresses, or want to peek at my other creations, just pop over to mooandflo’s online shop.

Thank you, happy stitching,  Dianne

Cat in the Hat goes into Space!

I’ve been nose down at Doris and Dotty ( the overlocker and sewing machine, for those of you not in the know) and have whipped up heaps of new trousers this week.

I’ve got pocket ones, frilly ones and even shark ones, but my faves at the moment are the rocket pants…

There you go, that’s a small sneaky peek of what I’ve been up to.¬† If you fancy buying them, go to the shop – or just tell your friends about the fun things here at mooandflo!

Winter is Fancy Pants Time

The cold weather is slowly sneaking up on us here in New Zealand, and whilst a few hardy folk will steel themselves and wear jandals right through to next summer, for most of us the dark nights herald thermal vests, warm cardigans and long trousers.

This is good news for mooandflo, because I love making exciting trousers, fancy pants, and loony longs!¬† There’s nothing better than sewing fun pockets¬† or kooky frills onto a seemingly normal pair of denims or cords, transforming them into something that raises a smile and brings a bit of yippeeee into our lives.

With this in mind, I’ve embarked on a range of fun Carnival Pants with lovely flounces and frills around the bottom, invoking a bit of Brazil, a warmer climate, and a whole lot of dancing and fun.

This is just a little sample of the trousers that will be coming up, so keep popping back and what on earth I’ll come up with next!

Until then, Ay Carumba!
