Competition Winner!

Thanks to everyone who entered our sweepstake over at mooandflo’s facebook page.

Despite Facebook’s new rules, which make competitions and give aways a lot trickier to set up and run than previously, we had lots of entries, which is FABULOUS!

So without further delay, I will rip open the gold envelope  …

Competition Time: How Many Buttons?

I’m running a wee competition just for giggles and smiles

It’s simple enough – you just have to guess how many buttons are in my champagne flute.

You can post your guesses below, or on the Facebook page, or email them to mooandflo@gmail.com

The Rules:

  • The competition is open until American Idol finishes on Friday in New Zealand.
  • Each person can guess up to 5 times.

Another Ridiculous Competition at mooandflo

I just can’t help myself – I just love having wee competitions on my Facebook page.  Even in a relatively sane competition there are always heaps of giggles from the posts, and today’s was no exception.

The competition was very simple – guess how many pairs of mooandflo’s little pods reversible shoes I would complete in one day by 10pm.

One wag guessed zero, and when I said she could guess again she responded that she “was hoping you would be sewing up a new beautiful dress for my little girl to wear.”  Next week, Cherie, next week.

Some people had great faith in my sewing prowess, thinking maybe I’d take on No’1 Shoe Warehouse!  Jill and Helen thought I’d make 18 pairs, Dee posited 17 pairs, and just as I was flagging and about to crack, I was massively buoyed by Niki’s guess of 23.

Amber opened the field to total lunacy when she guessed 7.5 pairs, leading Lorraine to speculate I’d make 9.6 pairs of shoes. 0.5 of a pair I can cope with – half a pair – one shoe, right?  But I’m still trying to work out what 0.6 of a pair would look like… (Answers on  a postcard, please).

So now I can tell you are fair gagging to know how many I actually did make.  Don’t deny it, it’s written all over you.

Well here goes…

I made the grand total of 14 pairs of shoes!

Mental!

I had no lunch and worked like a maniac, but it was worth it, because here they all are:

Not a bad effort for an old lass with a sewing machine, eh?

Suzanne and Shanley shared first place and can now go and have a mini mooandflo splurge on me by way of reward for their magnificent guesswork.  Woot.

Now, time for a cocoa and two bickies then bed – all this sewing has worn me out!

the daftest competition I’ve ever had

I love to have a wee mooandflo competition over on Facebook every now and then, and I try to pick ideas that will be fun and silly and give everyone a giggle along the way.  My favourite until today was one to name the elephant backpack I’d made (the winner, Hugh Hefferlump, totally cracks me up even now).

But today I randomly threw a wee comp out there on the spur of the moment and it simply  said this…

You have the time it takes me to photograph and upload my latest creation to guess what it is. If you guess, it’s yours. If you’re near, there’ll be a consolation prize. Clue – it’s a brand new item that I’ve not sold before at all… GO!

I wasn’t sure whether any of my followers were online, let alone interested in such frippery, but lo and behold, within 2 minutes we had 5 entries, and by 15 minutes we had 30!  And such fun ideas, too – some are even things I have in the pipeline, but not actually the right answer for this particular creation.

Some of the entries that cracked me up were:

  • an apple cosy
  • a Luke Skywalker costume
  • a tea bag purse
  • oven mits
  • a tea cosy

but best of all…

  • a too-hard basket – bahahahahhahaha

Superb!  I’m not sure I know how to make a too-hard basket but I sure manage to put a lot into mine 😉

Luckily for the people entering, my camera’s memory card seemed to have about a billion pictures on it, so it took quite a while to download, and by 25 minutes we had 30 fun entries, two of which were in the ball park with ‘a cuddly’ or ‘a toy’ …

Those two were invited to elaborate, to see if either would get closer, and they came up with “A snuggly blanket type thing like the ones with the heads” and “a rabbit”.

The thing I had made was actually this…

So Rosemary won with her entry of ‘a rabbit’ as, being a creature, it was the nearest entry.

Oh what fun!  It was lovely to announce a winner, and I had to give 2nd prize to Sydney who had suggested the snuggly, as she was also the person who suggested ‘the too hard basket’ which is still making me giggle.

Fun times at mooandflo.
